You know when you look at your kids and watch them truly enjoy something; then your mind starts looking to the future; well I can testify that I used to do that. I had this week planned out to be hanging out at Wells Fargo Arena for the Iowa High School Wrestling Championships. I have been following the boys that Joshy wrestled with and at times against. I now look at them and wonder how Josh would look and what weight he would have wrestled at. He had talent and anyone who watched him could see it. Oh he wasn’t all about going to every aau meet possible. This was a seasonal sport for him. Church before sports too. He was naturally a scrapper and that’s a lot of what wrestling is till the boys get older and start using their experience and training of “if opponent does this, then I do that” and it would be rewarded. This was just one passion of my farm boy. He was involved in many activities.
Yes I thought when Joshy started wrestling so many years ago that our family would be cheering him on this week for his Junior year at the State Wrestling Meet and again next year as a Senior too for Bondurant-Farrar.
In a blink our family was blindsided, Josh was gone from our lives and plans changed, all of them but one …
You are wondering what that one plan was that remains. The plan is for my children to go the Heaven when they die because they have Jesus in their heart. They believe in God. I know Joshy is in Heaven. He cast down his crown of gold at the feet of Jesus just as the Bible says believers will. That crown was worth more the any trophy or metal could ever be. Only by faith did Joshy receive it.
Reading this; you can educate others about the choking game. Take action and although you may not be made aware of it; a family somewhere will continue to cheer their child on at whatever activities, be they sports, fine arts, clubs or just job well done. Sharing knowledge saves others lives.
Prayers for safety to all wrestlers, cheerleaders, coaches, parents and fans traveling and participating at the state meet.
Blessings to all;
WildfarmKids Mama & family
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”
Ephesians 6:10-20 NIV
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV
